Congratulations to Andrew on his first nomination of awards season! He is up for Best Supporting Actor in “Never Let Me Go” at the British Independent Film Awards. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Sunday, December 5th.
“Never Let Me Go” will be screened at the annual Ghent Film Festival in Belgium. No word yet on when you can see the film or if Andrew will be in attendance, but it runs from October 12-23, 2010, so stay tuned for more updates!
This year’s Ghent Film Festival will feature a special appearance by French thesp Catherine Deneuve.
Deneuve will travel to Belgium for the Benelux preem of her latest film, “Potiche,” along with co-star Jeremie Renier helmer Francois Ozon.
“Potiche” is one of 23 films making their Benelux bows at the fest including English-language entries “Get Low,” “Never Let Me Go,” “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Another Year” and “Somewhere.”
The fest kicks off Tuesday with a double-feature of Belgian Hilde Van Mieghem’s “Madly in Love” and Banksy’s doc “Exit Through the Gift Shop.” “Potiche” will unspool Saturday.
The fest will also feature a question-and-answer session with helmer Paul Greengrass, who is being feted with the fest’s Joseph Plateau kudo for career achievement.
The 37th edition of the fest will screen more than 140 films from 35 countries, with organizers expecting approximately 120,000 visitors.
The final day of the fest, Oct. 23, will feature a 10th anniversary celebration of the World Soundtrack Awards, with appearances scheduled from composers Howard Shore, Gustavo Santaollalla, Gabriel Yared and others.
